Resumo

The objective of this work is to offer a comprehensive analysis of the primary theoretical-methodological approaches in archaeology. A sequential examination of schools will be conducted, briefly outlining their fundamental theoretical assumptions concerning the study of material culture across different periods. The aim is to present a chronological overview that emphasizes advancements in theoretical and methodological perspectives, providing a succinct yet thorough understanding of the diverse currents that have shaped the field of archaeology. Special attention will be given to those approaches that have exerted the most significant influence on Brazilian archaeology.
