PROCESS TRACING COMO MECANISMO DE ANÁLISE DE TRAJETÓRIA: DO 11 DE SETEMBRO À GUERRA AO TERROR E O CAMINHO PARA A GUERRA DO IRAQUE

O atentado terrorista de 11 de setembro de 2001 aos Estados Unidos foi um evento responsável por provocar transformações na política tanto externa quanto interna do país. Além das medidas tomadas para combater o terrorismo na chamada Guerra ao Terror, iniciada pelo governo de George W. Bush, o país adotava também políticas que classificavam como inimigos os países que fornecessem apoio ou não combatessem os grupos considerados terroristas. Este artigo tem como objetivo mostrar como essa política estadunidense resultante dos eventos de 2001 foi responsável por influenciar as decisões que levaram à invasão do Iraque em 2003. Ao longo do texto foram analisadas todas as decisões que acarretaram na invasão do Iraque.
Utilizou-se a metodologia de process tracing para observar o período de 2001 até 2003 e inferir acerca do questionamento sobre a influência do atentado na invasão.
