MATURITY MODELS IN DIGITAL RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Keywords:
Maturity model, Record management, Digital documentAbstract
Advancing digital transformation requires specific criteria in the production and preservation of digital information. A maturity model can be applied to evaluate and improve document management, identifying areas for improvement and providing guidance for developing actions. Therefore, the present study objective to analyze research on maturity models applied in document management, aiming to extract subsidies that contribute to the development of a maturity model to be used in the archival management of digital documents. The methodology used was bibliographic research based on a systematic literature review (SLR), in which 40 papers retrieved from scientific databases were selected, and through content analysis, concepts related to maturity models, domains of application, examples of maturity models, methodologies used for developing maturity models, as well as a description of the components structuring the models were categorized. The results show that the Design Science Research (DSR) method was used to create robust and practical maturity models, based on eight scientific requirements defined by Becker, Knackstedt e Pöppelbuss (2009). With regard to the composition of maturity models, it was revealed the effectiveness of models comprising five stages of evaluation from the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), supplemented by criteria referenced in international standards and models for records management and preservation. As for evaluation methods, the research highlighted self-assessment as a cost-effective strategy. In conclusion, it was determined that the discussions on the categorized themes, supported by the analyzed research, provide a solid foundation for the development of an efficient maturity model in the archival management of digital documents.
