SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN AFRICAN ANTIQUITY

Abstract

This article presents an investigation about the scientific and technological productions that occurred
in African antiquity. It discusses the various achievements of science and technology in the ancient
civilizations of North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. It demystifies the false idea that Africa did not
have a history or produce any relevant knowledge, in addition to being unfairly regarded as an obscure
and culturally backward civilization. Through relevant research by European, American and African
philosophers such as Cheikh Anta Diop and Theophille Obenga addressed in this work, the
epistemological, scientific, philosophical and cultural contributions of ancient Egypt and sub-Saharan
Africa are highlighted. Therefore, this work explores the true Africa that existed in antiquity, where
the development of several areas of knowledge occurred.
