PARTICIPATION OF THE ARCHIVAL COURSE IN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE ARCHIVES IN PARAÍBA

Abstract

The creation of the Archives Course by the State University of Paraíba (UEPB) brought greater representation and other actors to the state's archival scene, expanding discussions and debates about this very important topic for a Region that had only one course in Bahia. Thus, this article deals with an account of the participations and contributions as a professor, representing the UEPB Archives course, in several instances of Paraíba, João Pessoa and nationally, such as: The Provisional Commission of the Public Archive, the Council of Municipal Transparency and the National Archives Conference, which resulted in the creation of the Paraíba State Public Archive Law – APEPB, as well as the proposal for the institutionalization of the Municipal Public Archives. This participation enabled the recognition of the Archives Course at national and local level, and, at the same time, an exchange of information with other researchers and archivists that expanded the scope and increasingly established our area.
