HOLISMO AMBIENTAL:
ÉTICA DA TERRA E ECOLOGIA PROFUNDA
Keywords:
Intrinsic Value, Holism, Land Ethic, Deep EcologyAbstract
In this article, we intend to discuss the differences between the holistic theories of Earth Ethics and Deep Ecology, regarding their approaches to moral consideration and the holistic aspect of the theories. To achieve this objective, we will start with the discussion of the concepts of intrinsic value and environmental holism, as a way of building common ground for evaluating theories. Then, we will explain and examine the two theories, starting with the Land Ethic and, finally, with Deep Ecology. We propose that although the two theories are considered holistic, there are significant differences between the two, both with regard to their consideration of entities that have intrinsic value, as well as the types of holism present in each of the perspectives.
