"DIE REUE DES PROMETHEUS: VON DER GABE DES FEUERS ZUR GLOBALEN BRANDSTIFTUNG"

Abstract

The threats of the current climate crisis, the Anthropocene, have driven many studies with the aim of understanding how we arrived at this crisis and proposing ways to overcome it. However, we still don't seem to be ready to deal with the problem of fossil fuels, which is mainly responsible for our transition to this crisis. Thus, the proposal is to review the book Die Reue des Prometheus (The Repentance of Prometheus), by Peter Sloterdijk (2023). To fulfill this proposal, I present the author, the book and carry out an initial evaluation of its content. Then, I describe the parts of the book and examine some of its formulations. Finally, I carry out a final evaluation of the book. Among the book's formulations examined are issues of sustainability and the underground forest (fossil fuels). My final consideration is that the book has the potential to be profiled with the works most referred to by contemporary ecological literature.
