As EMOÇÕES COMO O MOTUS DAS AÇÕES MORAIS EM RELAÇÃO AO MEIO AMBIENTE

This article aims to argue in favor of the hypothesis that emotions, more specifically empathy and compassion, are fundamental elements in decision-making and actions in relation to the environment. They are essential for enabling an approximation of nature, thus overturning the anthropic historical distance, as well as for favoring the emergence of a feeling of environmental belonging. Both the feeling of closeness and belonging are important for moral actions based on an ecocentric environmental ethics, since the anthropocentric vision present in traditional ethics has led human beings to carry out actions that have degrading and destructive consequences on a global basis, mainly for the balance of ecosystems and the entire biosphere. Given this, there is an urgent need for reflection seeking to find new relational paradigms that highlight the intrinsic value of the environment.
