The Power mechanisms in educational institutions

The mechanisms of power are inserted in pedagogical action, since they insert devices, which used properly, can improve and streamline the teaching and learning process. With the aim of reflecting on the mechanisms of control and on the actions of teachers and their attitude towards the traditional paradigms present in our education, this article will present the discourse of power and awards in the classroom as mechanisms of power and their functions to this end. To this end, we adopted the theoretical assumptions of Foucault (1987) and other authors who deal with the subject. The results obtained indicate that discipline is necessary for there to be order, and order in a society is essential, just as awards, when used properly, can encourage students to participate and perform better in class, making the school less punitive.
