Abstract

In light of technological developments, which have transformed our ways of acting, being and being in the world, there is an urgent need to reflect on the role of literature in digital media. This ongoing research aims to reflect on the impact of the new literary criticism represented by booktubers and booktokers and how it influences the formation of new readers. Therefore, we will carry out a critical-reflexive analysis in an attempt to explain the contrast between the effectiveness of the organizational and aesthetic mechanisms used by these content creators in literary videos to capture the public's attention, influencing the decision to purchase the works and the associated challenges to superficiality in the interpretation of literary texts. These questions will unfold through bibliographic methodological research based on the assumptions surrounding the mutation of literature in contemporary times, discussed by Perrone-Moisés (2016), as well as the challenges of reading in the digital world, discussed by Chartier (2002).
