This article proposes an analysis of the book Tudo é Rio (2021) addressing what it is to be a woman in a society loaded with gender expectations, fostered by structural machism. It traces a reflection on the female characters, both the protagonists and secondary figures of the work, highlighting moments when these are subjected to circumstances marked by the social context that dominates them, such as situations related to marriage, maternity, sexuality and social judgment. It is seen that, because of the rigid patriarchal structure, many women are socialized to contribute, albeit unconsciously, to the maintenance of the system. As a theoretical basis, the main names used were Bourdieu (2012), Hooks (2018) and Del Priore. (2011). The methodology was of a qualitative-exploratory character, using bibliographic research as a delineation. It is understood that Tudo é Rio portrays the dominant sexist thinking in society in a credible way, and it is possible to bring the fictional narrative closer to reality.
