Our research aims to describe and analyze orality activities proposed in two 6th grade elementary school textbooks, used as one of the main teaching resources in Portuguese language classes in two public schools in the municipal network of São João do Cariri-PB. Our analysis is characterized by a qualitative, descriptive, explanatory and bibliographic approach (GIL, 2008). As for the theoretical basis, we adhere to what the Portuguese Language PCNs recommend regarding the orality axis, as well as the assumptions of Benveniste (2005), Marcuschi (2008), Ferrarezi Jr. (2014), Dell'Isola (2016) and Rodrigues and Dantas (2015). The results indicate that the didactic materials analyzed still demand a better development of activities that contemplate oral genres of public life, as well as the oralization of texts in socially significant
